WTA-Day 2020 in Vienna postponed!
Dear members of WTA International
Dear guests of WTA International
Due to the current intensification of the development of Sars-CoV-2 in Europe and globally, the Presidium of WTA International made the decision to cancel WTA Days 2020 in Vienna planned for next week from 19th to 20th March 2020. WTA International intends to follow the approach recommended by most European and international authorities practiced by many internationally operating organizations, clubs and associations, to prevent the dangers of infection of its members, guests and lecturers by potential corona virus. Infections may be associated with travel to and from Vienna as well as with the organization of events. Finally, no WTA member and no participant of a WTA event shall be endangered by attending the WTA General Assembly international, the evening event of WTA or the colloquium of WTA.
At the present time, it is not possible to estimate when the danger of infection with the coronavirus will be over. However, scientists, doctors and virus researchers assume that the situation will ease by the 3rd quarter of 2020 at the latest. Accordingly, the Presidium has planned to set an alternative date for the WTA Days 2020 in the 4th quarter of 2020. The "denkmal 2020" in Leipzig at the beginning of November would be a good opportunity for this.
Friday, 6 November 2020, on the occasion of “denkmal 2020”, the leading European trade fair for the preservation, restoration and refurbishment of historical buildings, in Leipzig, will be set as the alternative date for the General Assembly of WTA International. As already planned in Vienna, the General Assembly will also take place in Leipzig in the morning. In the afternoon, an attractive lecture event for the members of the WTA international and for all persons and circles interested in the WTA work will take place. A detailed programme of events will be announced here.
The WTA event will take place together with the traditional WTA-D members' evening on the evening before, on 5th of November 2020, to which WTA-D and WTA International jointly invite.
The Presidium of WTA International asks all members of WTA to understand that all events of the WTA-Days 2020 have to be cancelled at short notice one week before the event starts.
